Engagement Photography FAQ's

If I purchase a print package, will I receive a disc?

Possibly. If your print package or photo print purchase totals $100.00 or more, a disc containing up 5 of your high resolution images along with low resolution copies for internet upload and email will be included. You can add additional photos to your disc from are "a la carte" menu.

We have someplace special in mind, can you shoot wherever we want?

Yes. (Assuming you are not asking meet you at your neighbors home; shoot your engagement session, and then help you carry out their 42" plasma.) Seriously, we can shoot pretty much anywhere. If it is private property and not open to the public we will need to contact the owner for permission. If it is outside the Amarillo area, there may be some additional travel expenses. If this is the case, just let me know ahead of time and I will provide you with a quote.

Can we try more than one location?

Sure. The sitting fee for our engagement photography session covers up to two hours. We should have plenty of time to get the photos you want. If we are shooting downtown for example, we may hit up to 10 locations. If the locations you have in mind are not particularly close together, then we might need to think about extending your session. Otherwise, this will not be a problem. So to answer your question; yes, and it all really depends on locations that you have in mind.

Where is your photography studio?

Our studio is downtown. I would like to clarify our studio is just that. A space with lights, backdrops, modifiers, etc. Nothing fancy, just all the things we need. I share the space with a couple of other local photographers. I wish "Life of Riley" Photography had it's own building with leather couches, a receptionist, and chilled champagne for our clients, but unfortunately at this time it is just not practical. I just want to be up front and make sure nobody shows up expecting it to look like what they have seen on America's Next Top Model. Anyway, I do not publish the address because it is not staffed. When we set up a shoot we just meet our client there.

What should we wear for our pictures?

I think it is certainly an occasion that warrants getting a little dolled up, however I would not get crazy unless that is look you are wanting. Engagement photos are all about who you are as a couple, so stick with that. If your man is a boots and jeans kind of guy, then go with it. Just make sure the boots are polished and the jeans are clean. Solid colors usually work better then prints. Prints can be distracting, especially if you have more then one print in the same photo.

How do we view the proofs from our engagement session?

We will post all your edited photos in an online engagement gallery. You just look through your gallery and let us know which prints you would like to order. We usually tell clients to allow 2 to 3 weeks after your session for us to post your photo gallery online. Depending on how busy we are, it is often much quicker then that.

Can our friends and family view our online photo gallery?

Yes. Your engagement gallery will be posted on lifeofrileyphotography.com. Once all the editing is complete and we have your photos uploaded to our website, we will send you an email containing the link to your gallery. Your gallery is not password protected unless you request it. Your engagement gallery will be a floating page on the website. In other words their will be no links on the website that will take someone to your gallery. The page name must be entered in the address bar or a link followed such as the one we will send you via email. If you would like to share your photo gallery with friends and family simply send them a copy of our email or copy and paste the link into a new one. Obviously if you do choose to password protect your gallery, you will need to send them the password along with the link.

When can I schedule our engagement photo session?

We can set up your engagement session for a weekday several months prior to the date. Unfortunately, we can not schedule your session for a weekend more then two weeks in advance. Our availability on the weekend is very limited and primarily reserved for wedding photography. However, if you are fairly flexible with the time of your session, we can usually work something out.

Should I pay for my print package and sitting fee at the same time?

That option is available to you, but if you would prefer you can wait until after your online engagement gallery is posted. That will give you a little more flexibility on choosing the photo package that makes the most sense with your selections.

We are considering bringing more than one outfit. Is this ok?

Not a problem. Our only real limitation is time and we got plenty of it. However, you might keep in mind that if we are shooting on location, there may not be any real good place to change clothes.

How does the whole "on location" thing work?

We will just have you meet us at the location. If we are shooting multiple locations then you can just follow us from there.

What kind of editing do you do with our engagement photos?

We enhance every photo that is posted in your online engagement gallery. Most images just require some minor adjustments regarding sharpening, contrast, etc. We may do some minor skin retouching as well. Some photos will probably get a bit of an artistic makeover. We might dodge and burn a few areas, add a vignette, the list is pretty long. Basically we process the image in a way that appeals to us. Then assuming you have chosen us because you appreciate our style, the image will hopefully appeal to you as well.

If our print package includes a disc, does that mean we also have the copyright to the photos?

No. "Life of Riley" Photography still owns the images and retains all copyrights. However, we do provide a print release with your disc. This release allows you to share your photos with friends and family as well as have prints made wherever and whenever you would like. Obviously we would prefer you purchase prints from us, but we understand that is not always going to happen. In the very least we do recommend purchasing your prints from a quality lab.
