Experimental Portrait

I was experimenting with some lighting and one of my son’s toys tonight.  I was able to convince my wife (with much reluctance) to pose for a few photos.  The toy has a globe with spinning lights.  I used a long exposure to have time to paint with the light from the toy within the frame.  I felt the photo came out pretty interesting.

These photos are from a fashion series for Amarillo Magazine titled “A Night To Remember”.  The photos feature David and Heather Kouba.  We had a great time at the shoot and I was very pleased with how the images came out.  The series was featured in the December issue and made the cover.

I am not a big fan of being in front of the camera, but on occassion I don’t have much choice.  I shoot quite a bit for Amarillo Magazine and they require a photo to accompany a short bio.  These are featured on a contributer page in the Magazine.  My wife convinced me my current photo was….well let’s just say not very flattering.  I have recently been experimenting with some new lighting techinques and felt it was a good oppurtunity to shoot a new one.  Well, so here it is.  I believe it should be in the December issue.  I felt it came out pretty well and more importantly, my wife approves.

Pigskin Preview

I shot several photos for the 2010 Pigskin Preview this year.  These guys are big.  I had a great time and really appreciate their patience.  It was a pretty long shoot and no complaints.  The photos in the field ended up not making the final magazine, but I was happy with how the came out.
