Center City Block Party

Posted on August 17, 2009

I shot the Center City Block Party last night for Amarillo Magazine.  It was good time and their was a large crowd on hand.  I got there right at dusk which made for some pretty cool photos, but the light was fading fast which had me scrambling a bit to get the shots I needed.  The shots should be in an upcoming “out and about” section.

“Amarillo Symphony Ball”

Posted on February 24, 2009

I did some photography at the Amarillo Symphony Ball this last Saturday.  I was shooting for Amarillo Uptown Magazine.  My mother is longtime cellist with the symphony, so I am a fan of the cause.  The ball is a means of raising money to support them.  I have never attended in the past for comparison, but the place was packed, so I am assuming the event was a success.  Everyone there appeared to be having a great time.  The band “Le Freak” provided the entertainment.  They are a disco cover band based out of Dallas.  Even if you are not a closet disco fan, you could not help but have some fun.  These guys put on a great show.  And of course all the Bells and Beaux looked great.  Everyone did.  It was truly a  black tie affair.  Enjoy the photos.

“Battle of the Badges”

Posted on January 21, 2009

I have decided that I am going to write a few posts and provide links to a some previous shoots over the last year or so that are not otherwise displayed on the website.  Photography is a passion of mine and I have taken tons of photos over the years.  Many of these images do not fit into the portrait or wedding photography categories of the website, but are great shots none the less.  I am starting with a link to a gallery for Amarillo’s Battle of the Badges.  It is a charity event to benefit the the 100 club of Amarillo.  This charity assists families of firefighters and police men and women who are killed or injured in the line of duty.  Being that I work for the Amarillo Fire Dept. it is charity that I feel is definitely worthy of support.  The Battle of the Badges bids firefighters against police in a series of boxing matches.  It is a great time and has the feel of a big league boxing event.  For those that have attended in the past, I will not need to convince you go again this next year.  For those who have not been before; you need to go!  It is a great time for a great charity.  I do not believe a date has been set for next year, but I expect it will be sometime next fall.  There should be some radio ads and posters around town to give you a heads up.  I am providing a link to a gallery containing the photos from the last event this past October.  Enjoy!

“Woman of the Year”

Posted on January 20, 2009

This last week I did some photography at the annual Globe News “Amarillo Man and Woman of the Year” luncheon at the Amarillo Civic Center.  Their was a large crowd on hand and what looked like some pretty good “eats”.  Unfortuneatly I was busy playing photographer and did not have the oppurtunity to eat.  I have to admit that the group from the globe news was very nice and I was asked several times if I would like to sit down and enjoy some of the food,  but I chose to stay focused on getting set up for a few shots.  I was shooting for Amarillo Uptown Magazine, however I am not sure what their plans are for the photos.  Whether for print or web; either way, I ended up with several nice photos.  The photo here is of Diann Gilmore, the Amarillo Woman of the Year.

“MS Bridal Show”

Posted on January 14, 2009

Well, the big show came to Amarillo this last Sunday.  Unfortunately we were not able to get things together in time to have a booth this year, but I was there.  I was shooting for Amarillo Uptown Magazine.  I believe some of the shots are going to featured in the “get out” section of their next issue.  There were a ton of brides and all kinds of wedding vendors.  Which really made me regret not getting my act together in time for the show.  But I did have a good time and got to meet some new people.

A benefit for the American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women campaign was held friday January 9th at the Happy State Bank on Soncy.  I was there shooting some photos for Amarillo Uptown Magazine.  There was a nice turn out  and everyone seemed to have a good time.  Check out the “get out” section of the next issue for the rest of the photos.
